Position Purpose:
Provides front-line customer service and in particular, greets users, provides them with information and handles loans and returns for all types of documents.
Follows up with users on late returns (communication with users, receipt of late fees).
Participates in the preparation and smooth running of various library events and activities.
Ensures the preparation of all new releases and additions to the collections; is responsible for repairing books and maintaining the library’s shelves.
Essential Qualifications
High School Diploma
Minimum one (1) year of demonstrated experience in a similar role
Experience with computer systems and applications such as Windows, word processing software, spreadsheets, the internet and email
Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills
Discretion and ability to maintain confidentiality
Reliability
Sound judgment
Strong organizational skills
Ability to work under pressure
Bilingualism – English and French (spoken and written)
